Zirconium scrap from corrosion-resistant equipment

Zirconium resists acids that destroy stainless steel, so it is used for reactors, heat exchangers, piping and valves in chemical and pharmaceutical plants, as well as in alloys, ceramics and sputtering targets. Equipment replacement and machining generate zirconium scrap in solids, tubing and turnings. Zirconium recycling keeps this metal in use and avoids the energy-intensive route from zircon sand.

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Zirconium recycling and zirconium scrap price FAQ

What zirconium scrap do you buy for zirconium recycling?

Zr 702 and 705 solids, plate and bar, heat exchanger tubing and pipe, decommissioned vessels, valves and liners, turnings, spent sputtering targets and other zirconium alloy scrap. We buy only non-nuclear material.

Can I sell zirconium from nuclear applications?

Only if it was never irradiated and comes with documentation showing that. Irradiated or contaminated nuclear material cannot be bought. Most zirconium we buy comes from chemical and industrial plants.

What affects the zirconium scrap price?

Grade, form, hafnium content, and contamination such as steel, welds or oil. Clean solids and tubing earn more than mixed turnings. Equipment with other metals attached is priced after sorting. Oryx makes a written offer on each lot’s analysis.

How should zirconium turnings be stored and packed?

Fine zirconium turnings and powder can ignite, so keep them away from heat and sparks and pack them in sealed steel drums, dry or under the agreed medium. We give you packing instructions before collection.

Do you buy zirconium equipment from plant shutdowns?

Yes. Plant shutdowns and equipment replacement are a major source of zirconium scrap. Send a list of the equipment and photos, and we can arrange cutting, collection and transport.

Why choose Oryx Metals as a zirconium scrap buyer?

Oryx Metals specialises in reactive and minor metals, knows how to handle zirconium turnings safely, and works with the refiners that remelt zirconium. You get a written offer, clear grading and logistics arranged from your plant, whether it is one heat exchanger or a full shutdown.
