Silver recycling from contacts, brazing and electronics

Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any metal, so industry uses it in switch and relay contacts, brazing alloys, conductive pastes for solar cells and electronics, plated parts and batteries. Manufacturing and equipment replacement leave contact scrap, brazing offcuts, paste residues and plating waste. Silver recycling returns this material to refiners, and silver content in industrial scrap is often higher than sellers expect.

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Silver recycling: what industrial sellers ask

What silver scrap do you buy for silver recycling?

Silver electrical contacts and rivets, silver brazing alloys, conductive silver paste and paste waste, silver-plated busbars and connectors, sputtering targets, anodes and sheet, and silver-bearing plating sludge, filters and residues.

Do contacts with cadmium or tin oxide have a different value?

Yes. Contact materials such as AgCdO, AgSnO2 and AgNi have different silver contents, and cadmium-bearing contacts need special handling at the refinery. Sort by type if you can, or send an analysis.

How is silver-bearing scrap valued?

On assayed silver content, any other payable metals such as gold, palladium or copper, and the silver price on the agreed date, less refining charges. High-grade contacts and brazing alloys earn better terms than residues. Oryx confirms terms in a written offer.

Is solar cell silver paste worth recycling?

Yes. Expired paste, wipes, screens and jars from solar and electronics lines can contain a high share of silver. Send the paste type, quantity and packaging, and we will advise on handling.

Do you buy silver scrap from manufacturers on a regular basis?

Yes. Many silver scrap buyers only take one-off lots. Oryx can agree a regular collection and settlement process with contact makers, assemblers and solar plants, with assays and payment on an agreed schedule.

Why sell silver-bearing scrap to Oryx Metals?

Oryx Metals sorts silver scrap by type, pays for every payable metal it contains and works with refiners that can handle cadmium, paste and residues as well as clean alloys. You get a written offer, agreed sampling and payment by wire.
