Baghouse dust recycling turns emissions control into income

Dust collectors and baghouses capture fine particles from furnaces, smelters, grinding lines and thermal spray booths. That captured dust is often rich in the same metals the plant produces or processes, such as tungsten, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, tin or precious metals. Instead of paying to landfill it, many plants can sell baghouse and flue dust to refiners that recover the metal.

FORMS WE BUY

Metal-bearing dusts we buy

Large industrial bulk bags containing dark gray and black collected powder inside a metal-processing facility.

Baghouse dust

Collector dust from furnaces and process lines

Gray industrial dust collecting beneath a metal discharge chute in a factory equipped with extraction ductwork.

Flue dust

Smelter and furnace flue dust

Open metal containers holding dark and light industrial powders and granular residues inside a processing facility.

Grinding dust

Dry carbide, superalloy and tool grinding dust

Gray powdery industrial residue stored in a large woven collection bag inside a metal-processing plant.

Thermal spray overspray

Booth dust from carbide and alloy coatings

Worker using a metal scoop to inspect dark granular industrial residue in a large collection bin.

Powder handling dust

Dust from powder plants and press shops

Dark gray industrial powder being discharged into a lined collection container inside a processing facility.

Precious metal dust

Filter dust with gold, silver or PGMs

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Baghouse dust recycling and flue dust FAQ

What dust do you buy for baghouse dust recycling?

Baghouse and collector dust from furnaces and process lines, smelter and furnace flue dust, dry grinding dust from carbide, superalloy and tool production, thermal spray overspray, powder handling dust, and filter dust containing precious metals.

Which metals make dust worth recycling?

Dusts rich in tungsten, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, tantalum, tin or precious metals are the usual candidates. Zinc-rich steelmaking dust is handled by specialised recyclers, and we focus on the higher-value metals. An analysis of the dust tells us quickly whether it fits.

How is metal-bearing dust priced?

On the payable metal content, less processing costs and penalties for elements such as lead, cadmium, chlorine or arsenic. Fine, light dust also costs more to handle and ship. Oryx bases each offer on your analysis and annual volume.

How should dust be packed for shipping?

Usually in sealed big bags or lined drums to keep it dry and contained. Some fine metal dusts can be combustible, so we confirm packing and classification before collection.

Can we set up regular dust collections?

Yes. Most dust is generated continuously, so we agree a sampling routine, pricing basis and collection schedule that fits your filter change-outs.

Why choose Oryx Metals for dust recycling?

Oryx Metals looks at baghouse and flue dust for the metals it contains rather than as waste, matches it to refiners that can process fine material and handles the logistics, so you can stop paying for disposal where the chemistry allows.
