Crushed mineral ore being discharged from an industrial conveyor onto a large stockpile at a mining and mineral processing facility.

Rare Earth (ores)

Oryx Metals buys rare earth ore and rare earth concentrate, including monazite, bastnäsite and xenotime, from mines and mineral sands operations. Send your TREO assay and radioactivity data for a written offer.

Rare earth ore for a market looking beyond one supplier

Rare earth elements are mined from minerals such as bastnäsite, monazite and xenotime, and from ionic clays. Concentrates are cracked and separated into individual oxides for magnets, catalysts, phosphors and alloys. Because separation capacity is concentrated in very few countries, buyers outside that supply chain are actively seeking new rare earth concentrate, provided its radioactivity and documentation are in order.

FORMS WE BUY

Rare earth ores and concentrates we buy

Reddish-brown monazite concentrate with dense mineral sand grains and dark particles piled in a steel container at an industrial processing facility.

Monazite concentrate

Phosphate rare earth concentrate from mineral sands

Light brown bastnäsite concentrate with tan mineral granules, coarse fragments and fine crushed particles stored in a metal bin at a processing plant.

Bastnäsite concentrate

Light rare earth fluorocarbonate concentrate

Dark brown and black xenotime concentrate with dense, slightly reflective mineral grains piled in a round steel sampling pan at an industrial facility.

Xenotime concentrate

Heavy rare earth phosphate concentrate

Off-white mixed rare earth carbonate with fine powder, chalky granules and irregular compacted clumps piled in a stainless steel container at a chemical processing facility.

Mixed rare earth carbonate

Intermediate MREC from processing

Beige and light brown ionic clay rare earth intermediates with moist clay lumps, crumbly fragments and fine granules collected in an industrial steel trough.

Ionic clay products

Heavy rare earth intermediates from clays

Mixed rare earth by-product concentrate containing dark gray mineral granules, brown rocky fragments and metallic-looking particles in a worn steel bin at a processing facility.

By-product concentrates

Rare earth concentrates from other mining

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Rare earth ore and rare earth concentrate FAQ

What rare earth ore do you buy?

Monazite, bastnäsite and xenotime concentrates, mixed rare earth carbonate and other intermediates, heavy rare earth products from ionic clays, and rare earth concentrates produced as a by-product of other mining. Magnet scrap is covered on our Rare Earth & Magnet Scrap page.

What analysis is needed for rare earth concentrate?

Total rare earth oxide (TREO) and the distribution of individual elements, especially neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, plus thorium, uranium, phosphorus, fluorine, iron and moisture.

How is rare earth concentrate priced?

On TREO content and the value of the individual elements it contains, with heavy rare earths adding most value, less processing costs and penalties for radioactivity and impurities. Oryx makes each offer from your assay.

How is radioactivity handled for monazite?

Monazite contains thorium and some uranium, so it is regulated as naturally occurring radioactive material in many countries. Shipments need measured activity levels, the right classification and permits at both ends. We confirm requirements before anything moves.

Can new or small rare earth projects sell concentrate to Oryx?

Yes. We work with established producers and newer projects, including pilot-scale lots, and can help with sampling, documentation and finding processors outside the dominant supply chain.

Why sell rare earth concentrate through Oryx Metals?

Oryx Metals connects rare earth producers with processors looking for new supply, and understands the documentation and radioactivity rules involved. We value the individual elements in your concentrate, not just a headline TREO figure.
