Titanium ore from mineral sands and hard rock

Titanium is mined as ilmenite, rutile and leucoxene, mostly from mineral sands, and to a lesser extent from hard rock deposits. Most goes into titanium dioxide pigment, while high-grade rutile and upgraded feedstocks also supply titanium sponge and welding rod producers. Value depends on TiO2 grade and on impurities such as chromium, phosphorus, uranium and thorium, which decide which processors can use it.

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Titanium ore and titanium concentrate: producer FAQ

What titanium ore do you buy?

Ilmenite concentrate (sulfate and chloride grades), natural rutile, leucoxene, titanium slag, synthetic rutile and heavy mineral concentrate containing titanium minerals.

What analysis do buyers need for titanium concentrate?

TiO2 content, total iron, and impurities such as chromium, vanadium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, manganese, uranium and thorium, plus size distribution and moisture. Chloride-route processors are especially strict on some of these.

How is titanium concentrate priced?

Per tonne, based on TiO2 grade, product type and impurity profile, with reference to current ilmenite, rutile or slag market levels. Bulk lots are priced differently from bagged material. Oryx states all terms in a written offer.

Is titanium ore radioactive?

Some mineral sands concentrates contain trace uranium and thorium from associated minerals like monazite and zircon. Levels must be measured and declared for transport, and some markets set strict limits. Send your radioactivity data with the assay.

Can you handle bulk shipments of titanium ore?

Yes. We work with bulk vessel and container shipments, agree Incoterms, inspection and sampling, and arrange documents for both large mineral sands producers and smaller operations.

Why sell titanium concentrate through Oryx Metals?

Oryx Metals knows titanium from both the scrap and the mineral side and works with processors that need different grades. We help producers place material where its grade and impurity profile fit best, under clear written terms.
