Iridium recycling from anodes, crucibles and electronics

Iridium is one of the rarest metals mined. Its largest industrial uses are mixed metal oxide coatings on titanium anodes for electrochlorination, plating and water treatment, crucibles for growing single crystals, spark plug tips, and electrolysers for green hydrogen. Anodes are recoated or replaced, and crucibles wear out, so iridium recycling recovers the metal from coatings and solids that would otherwise be scrapped as titanium.

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Iridium recycling and titanium anode recycling FAQ

What iridium scrap do you buy for iridium recycling?

Iridium and ruthenium coated titanium anodes, iridium crucibles, iridium sheet, wire and rod, platinum-iridium alloys, spark plug electrodes and production scrap, PEM electrolyser components, and iridium-bearing stripping residues and powders.

How does titanium anode recycling work?

The mixed metal oxide coating, which holds the iridium and often ruthenium and tantalum, is stripped or the whole anode is processed, and the titanium substrate is recovered separately. Value depends on coating loading and anode area, so send dimensions, photos and the original coating specification if you have it.

What sets the value of iridium scrap?

The assayed iridium content and any ruthenium, platinum or titanium, the iridium price on the agreed date, and processing charges. Solid crucibles and alloys earn better terms than coated anodes or residues. Oryx states all terms in a written offer.

Do you buy iridium scrap from crystal growers in Asia?

Yes. Iridium crucibles from crystal growth are a regular stream from producers in Japan, China and elsewhere in Asia. We provide written terms for your approval process and handle export documentation.

Can you buy anodes from a plant shutdown or recoating cycle?

Yes. Chlor-alkali, electrochlorination, plating and electrowinning plants often replace anodes in sets. Send the quantity, dimensions and photos, and we can plan collection with your recoating schedule.

Why choose Oryx Metals for iridium recycling?

Iridium coatings are thin and easy to undervalue as titanium scrap. Oryx Metals assesses each anode type and crucible for its iridium, works with refiners that recover iridium and ruthenium, and pays for the titanium as well.
