Tungsten ore from mine to APT producer

Tungsten is mined mainly as wolframite and scheelite, then concentrated and sold to processors that convert it into ammonium paratungstate (APT), oxide and powder for carbide and alloys. Concentrate grade, impurities such as tin, arsenic, phosphorus and molybdenum, and traceability all affect who will buy it. As a 3TG mineral, tungsten also requires responsible sourcing documentation.

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Tungsten ore and tungsten concentrate FAQ for producers

What tungsten ore do you buy?

Wolframite and scheelite concentrates at standard and low grades, mixed tin-tungsten concentrates, concentrates recovered from tailings, and synthetic scheelite and other tungsten precipitates.

What grade does tungsten concentrate need to be?

The common benchmark is around 65 percent WO3, but lower grades are traded with grade adjustments. What matters as much as grade is the level of impurities such as tin, arsenic, phosphorus, sulfur and molybdenum. Send a full assay and we will say which processors suit it.

How is tungsten concentrate priced?

Per metric tonne unit (mtu) of contained WO3, usually as a percentage of the APT price, with deductions for low grade and impurity penalties. Oryx makes each offer from your assay, lot size and delivery terms.

What responsible sourcing documents are needed for tungsten ore?

Mine of origin, export permits, chain of custody records and due diligence in line with OECD guidance for 3TG minerals. Processors that supply aerospace and electronics will not accept unverified material.

Can small and mid-size mines sell tungsten concentrate to Oryx?

Yes. We work with producers of all sizes, including mines selling their first lots. We help arrange sampling, assay, documentation and logistics so the concentrate meets processor requirements.

Why sell tungsten concentrate through Oryx Metals?

Oryx Metals trades tungsten across scrap, catalyst and ore, so we know which processors want which concentrate grades and impurity profiles. That lets us place difficult concentrates as well as standard ones, with clear grade-based terms.
