Cobalt alloy scrap from aerospace, medical and wear parts

Cobalt alloys keep their strength and resist wear at high temperatures, so they are used for turbine vanes and combustors, hardfacing and wear parts, medical implants, dental alloys and AlNiCo permanent magnets. Machining, casting, part replacement and aircraft teardown all create cobalt scrap. Cobalt is a critical metal with a concentrated supply chain, which makes recycling cobalt alloys important for both value and supply security.

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Cobalt scrap price and cobalt recycling questions

What cobalt scrap do you buy?

Stellite solids, castings and rods, Haynes 188, L-605 and Mar-M509 aerospace parts, cobalt-chrome and MP35N medical and dental alloy, AlNiCo magnets, cobalt alloy turnings, and pure cobalt metal and powder.

How do I know if my scrap is a cobalt alloy?

Cobalt alloys look like stainless steel but are heavier and harder to machine. Stellite is usually weakly magnetic or non-magnetic and very hard. Part numbers or an XRF reading confirm the alloy. Send photos and readings and we will identify it with you.

What is behind the cobalt scrap price?

The cobalt content of the alloy, other valuable elements such as nickel and tungsten, the form, and contamination. High-cobalt solids like Stellite and Haynes 188 earn more than mixed turnings or magnets. The cobalt market moves sharply, so Oryx quotes on your analysis and the market on the day.

Is Stellite scrap priced differently from other cobalt alloys?

Yes. Stellite grades vary in cobalt, chromium and tungsten content, and the stellite scrap price follows that chemistry. Hardfacing on steel is valued lower than solid Stellite because the steel must be separated.

Do you buy cobalt scrap from aircraft teardowns and MROs?

Yes. Cobalt alloy vanes, combustor parts and other engine components are a regular stream. We can provide certificates of destruction and handle mutilation where it is required.

Why sell cobalt alloy scrap to Oryx Metals?

Cobalt alloys are easy to undersell as stainless or mixed superalloy. Oryx Metals identifies each grade, pays for its cobalt and other alloying metals, and works with melters and refiners that recover them, so your offer reflects what the scrap actually contains.
