Nickel alloy recycling is about the grade, not just the nickel
Nickel superalloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy and Waspaloy are used in jet engines, gas turbines, chemical plants and oil and gas equipment because they hold their strength at high temperature and resist corrosion. They also contain chromium, molybdenum, cobalt, niobium and other valuable elements. Machining, forging and part replacement generate large volumes of nickel alloy scrap, and sorting it by grade lets melters reuse it directly in new alloy.

FAQs
Nickel alloy recycling and Inconel scrap price FAQ
Which nickel alloys do you buy for nickel alloy recycling?
Inconel 600, 601, 617, 625, 718 and X-750, Hastelloy C-276, C-22 and X, Waspaloy, Rene alloys, Haynes 230, Monel, nickel 200 and other nickel-based superalloys, as solids, turnings, forgings and engine or turbine parts.
Do I need to sort my nickel alloy scrap by grade?
Not before contacting us, but sorted scrap earns more. Melters pay for specific chemistries, so a lot of pure Inconel 718 is worth more than the same weight mixed with stainless or other grades. If you do not have a PMI gun, we can grade mixed lots on arrival.
What sets the Inconel scrap price?
The grade and its nickel, molybdenum, cobalt and niobium content, the form, and contamination such as oil, coatings or other alloys, against the nickel market. Inconel 718 and 625 solids earn more than mixed turnings. Oryx makes a written offer based on your grade and analysis.
Do you buy oily or mixed superalloy turnings?
Yes. Oil and moisture are deducted from the weight, and mixed turnings are priced on their average chemistry. Keeping turnings from different grades in separate bins raises the value of each.
How do aerospace suppliers sell nickel alloy scrap to Oryx?
Most send a monthly list of grades and weights. We agree a pricing basis tied to the nickel market, collect on a schedule and pay by wire. One-off sellers such as scrap yards can send photos and an analysis for an individual offer.
What is different about selling nickel alloy scrap to Oryx Metals?
Many buyers pay for nickel alloy scrap as if it were stainless. Oryx Metals grades each lot by alloy, pays for the cobalt, molybdenum and niobium it contains and sends it to melters that use it as a direct alloy input. That keeps your scrap at its highest value.
