Jet engine recycling recovers some of the most valuable alloys in industry

A jet engine is built from nickel and cobalt superalloys, titanium and alloys containing rhenium, tantalum and hafnium. When engines and parts reach the end of their life, they come out of service from airlines, MROs, lessors and part-out companies. Turbine blades in particular can contain several high-value metals in one part. Careful teardown and sorting by alloy let each metal return to melters and refiners at its full value.

FORMS WE BUY

Jet engine and turbine blade scrap we buy

Whole engines

End-of-life turbofans, turboprops and APUs

Disassembled jet engine compressor, turbine, and combustor modules mounted on industrial stands inside an aerospace engine overhaul workshop.

Engine modules

HPT, LPT, compressor and combustor modules

Used jet engine turbine blades with cooling holes, dovetail roots, and heat-discolored surfaces arranged on a metal inspection table beside a scrap container.

Turbine blades

Single-crystal and equiaxed HPT and LPT blades

Worn turbine guide vanes, nozzle segments, and curved metal components showing heat discoloration collected in an industrial recycling bin.

Vanes and nozzles

Cobalt and nickel alloy vanes and segments

Large jet engine turbine discs, machined shafts, and cylindrical metal casings arranged on wooden pallets inside an aerospace recycling warehouse.

Discs and cases

Nickel and titanium discs, shafts and casings

Used industrial gas turbine blades, stationary vanes, and heat-exposed turbine casing sections collected in a heavy-duty metal scrap container.

Industrial gas turbine parts

IGT blades, vanes and hot section parts

HOW minor metals are PRICED

Oryx Metals makes scrap recycling easy and profitable

There's no single scrap price for minor metals. The same metal can come as clean solids or contaminated powder, and its value per kg can differ many times over. Every Oryx offer is based on your material's analysis, form and the market on the day.

How our pricing works
Highest value

Clean, high-purity solids

Uncontaminated pieces, offcuts, ingots and production rejects

Mid-Range

Coated or alloyed scrap

Coated parts, alloys, turnings and mixed solids

Priced on content

Powders, sludges & residues

Value depends on metal %, contamination and moisture

FAQs

Jet engine recycling and turbine blade recycling FAQ

What do you buy for jet engine recycling?

Complete end-of-life engines and APUs, engine modules, high and low pressure turbine blades, vanes and nozzle segments, combustor parts, discs, shafts and cases, and industrial gas turbine hot section parts.

Which turbine blades are worth the most?

Single-crystal high pressure turbine blades, especially second and third generation alloys that contain rhenium, are the most valuable. Equiaxed and directionally solidified blades and low pressure turbine blades follow. Part numbers tell us the alloy, so include them when you can.

How is scrap turbine blade value calculated?

From the alloy and its nickel, cobalt, rhenium, tantalum and hafnium content, coatings and any ceramic core left in the blade, against the markets for those metals. Whole engines are valued on the combined alloys after teardown. Oryx gives a written offer per part type or per engine.

Do you provide mutilation and certificates of destruction?

Yes. Many airlines, OEMs and MROs require that parts are rendered unserviceable before they are recycled. We can arrange mutilation and supply certificates of destruction, so scrapped parts cannot re-enter the market.

Can you buy engines and parts from outside the US?

Yes. We buy engines and parts from airlines, MROs and traders in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and handle export controls, customs and transport. Send the engine type, serial number range or part list to start.

Why do airlines and MROs sell jet engine scrap to Oryx Metals?

Oryx Metals has bought jet engines and turbine blades for years and knows which alloys sit in which parts. We sort by alloy instead of selling engines as mixed scrap, provide destruction certificates and handle logistics end to end, so sellers get full value with a clear paper trail.
