Vanadium recycling from alloys, oxides and residues
Most vanadium is added to steel as ferrovanadium, and smaller amounts go into titanium alloys through vanadium-aluminium master alloy, chemicals and vanadium redox flow batteries. Handling and alloy production leave fines, off-spec lumps and oxide residues, and batteries eventually return their electrolyte. What material can go to vanadium recycling?
Ferrovanadium fines and off-spec lumps, vanadium-aluminium master alloy, vanadium metal foil and chips, vanadium pentoxide and other oxides, used vanadium redox flow battery electrolyte, and vanadium-bearing ash and residues.
Is vanadium recycling the same as vanadium catalyst recycling?
No. Spent catalysts from sulfuric acid plants and SCR units are a separate stream with different handling, and they are covered on our Vanadium Catalyst page. This page is for vanadium alloys, metal, oxides and other residues.
How is vanadium scrap priced?
On vanadium content, the form, and impurities such as silicon, aluminium, phosphorus or sulfur, against the vanadium market on the day. Clean alloy and oxide earn more than ash or sludges. Oryx makes each offer from the lot’s analysis.
Do you take used flow battery electrolyte?
Yes, subject to analysis and packaging. Vanadium electrolyte is acidic, so it needs approved containers and dangerous goods documentation. Send the volume, vanadium concentration and photos of the containers.
